THEY GONNA FIND YOU!

This is why I adore the internet. Here is a guy without a lot of options, in the projects, his sister is almost raped and when he is interviewed by the local media, he is so lively and quotable and captivating that the video makes the viral rounds, before the day is out some kids make a auto-tune version of his interview and the whole thing explodes bigger than the Old Spice Ads – next thing you know Antoine is getting a house, donations, people are clammering for a ringtone version of the song and buying t-shirts that quote him, he is all over twitter, facebook and youtube and all in a matter of weeks.

There is no perfect formula for events like these, but when they happen.. it’s like binary magic!

Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula?

Chola

Current mood:  curious
Category: Blogging
Does anyone wonder why  Maria fell in love in East LA.. but grew up in Spanish Harlem.. and is living da life just like a movie star…  I mean, if she was so freggin poor – how did she get from Spanish Harlem to East Los Angeles? I was thinking that maybe she got the eviction letter in Harlem, so she hitchhiked to East LA, and while cleaning houses and thinking of way to make it better she fell in love with Mario Lopez at a bar where Carlos Santana was playing guitar (i think she was bussing tables there), and is now dancing with the stars…. and living the life just like a movie star….
does anyone else find this song somewhat stereo type heavy…. and what the heck does “Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula” mean?
I thought at first they were saying Mama CHOLA? Like tear drop and tattoo Sad Girl or something… odd
oh Maria Maria
She reminds me of a west side story
Growing up in Spanish Harlem
She’s living the life just like a movie star

oh Maria Maria
She fell in love in East L.A.
To the sounds of the guitar, yeah, yeah
Played by Carlos Santana

Stop the looting, stop the shooting
Pick pocking on the corner
See as the rich is getting richer
The poorer is getting poorer

See mi y Maria on the corner
Thinking of ways to make it better
In my mailbox there’s an eviction letter
Somebody just said see you later

Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula (east coast)

Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula (west coast )

oh Maria Maria
She reminds me of a west side story
Growing up in Spanish Harlem
She’s living the life just like a movie star

oh Maria Maria
She fell in love in East L.A.
To the sounds of the guitar, yeah, yeah
Played by Carlos Santana

I said a la fella los colores
The streets are getting hotter
There is no water to put out the fire
Mi cosa la esperanza

Se mira Maria on the corner
Thinking of ways to make it better
Then I looked up in the sky
Hoping of days of paradise

Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula (north side)

Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula
(south side)

Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula ( world wide)

Ahora vengo mama chula mama chula
Ahora vengo mama chula ( open up ur eyes )

Maria you know you’re my lover
When the wind blows I can feel you
Through the weather and even when we’re apart
It feels like we’re together maria
She reminds me of a west side story
Growing up in Spanish Harlem
She’s living the life just like a movie star

oh Maria Maria
She fell in love in East L.A.
To the sounds of the guitar, yeah, yeah
Played by Carlos Santana

Information Society!

Umm.. i dont know why, but i had a huge crush on the lead singer of this band. I think Kurt is his name. Perhaps it was the hair.. that colorful, warrior-like, sci-fi sort of emo-ish, nerd-friendly… I don’t actually know.. but the music still kinda makes me want to dance…

I Love Rock N Roll

Category: Life

So I am SO LOVING Karaoke!

When I got to Conference, we met up with some peeps over at the Karaoke Bar in The Swan. I didn’t really think I wanted to get up and sing. I was just having a Pomegranitini and chillin’ – Then Susan chose “Love Shack” one of my fave songs to sing along with and put in the ticket to sing it. When the time came, she chickened out – so I had to go up in her place. After getting acclimated to the funky prompter, I found that i really LOVED it! Lawrence, a Branch Manager from California jumped up on stage with me and sang the guys part. It was so much fun. I did Karma from Alicia Keys, and Baby Got Back…

I liked the karaoke rush so much, i drug Carmen, Brenda, Michael and Charlyne back there another night and we sang a bunch. Brenda and Charlyne seem to know all the old songs. They sang Copacabanna and New York, New York,… then the DJ made up sing “If I could Turn Back Time!” which NONE of us knew…

Carmen and I sang “Material Girl & You’re So Vain” which was fun, but the best part of the night was Michael singing “People Are Strange” from The Doors!

At the end of the night everyone left sang Joan Jett “I Love Rock N Roll” and that was super hot!

We totally Rocked!

We were having Hot Sake too… I have to find the Karaoke Bar here in Charlotte…  American Idol here I come!
